DESOPADEC Commences Project Inspection to Address Infrastructural Deficit in Mandate Area

The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) has embarked on a comprehensive inspection of ongoing and completed projects across its mandate areas. The exercise, aimed at identifying infrastructural gaps and prioritizing project completion, began in the Itsekiri mandate area and is expected to cover all ethnic nationalities under the commission’s purview.

The projects inspection team, led by Chairman Chief John Nani and Managing Director/CEO Chief Festus Ochonogor, visited several project sites in Warri North and Warri South Local Government Areas. These included the Alema Multi-Purpose Hall in Abigborodo, the Ultra-Modern Market in Ubeji, and the Administrative Block at the College of Education in Warri.

Addressing journalists after the inspection, Chief Festus Ochonogor emphasized the importance of completing projects to add value to the communities they serve. He expressed disapproval of abandoned projects and assured that the commission would provide necessary funding to complete ongoing projects. Ochonogor also extended an invitation to the media to join the inspection team as they continue their assessment in other mandate areas.

Other board members who accompanied the Chairman and Managing Director during the inspection included Chief Oghenekome Okpobor (Executive Director, Finance and Administration), Chief Talib Tebite (Executive Director, Projects), Hon. Nicholas Efele (Executive Director, Planning, Research, and Statistics), and Chief Sunny Ofe (representative of the Itsekiri ethnic nationality on the governing board).
